Definition
A collection of transaction data bundled together and added to the blockchain. Each block contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp, and transaction data — forming a chain.
Why It Matters
Blocks are the fundamental unit of blockchain data. Understanding blocks helps explain how transactions are finalized and why blockchain records are permanent.
Example
Bitcoin adds a new block approximately every 10 minutes. Each block can contain around 2,000–3,000 transactions.
