Definition

A distributed, immutable digital ledger that records transactions across a network of computers. Each block contains a set of transactions and is cryptographically linked to the previous block.

Why It Matters

Blockchain is the foundational technology behind all cryptocurrencies and is being adopted across finance, supply chain, healthcare, and many other industries.

Example

When you send Bitcoin to someone, the transaction is recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain, which is verified by thousands of computers worldwide.
