Bridge

Definition

A protocol that enables the transfer of assets or data between two separate blockchain networks. Bridges are essential for moving cryptocurrency across ecosystems (e.g., from Ethereum to Solana).

Why It Matters

Bridges expand what you can do with your crypto by allowing it to move between chains. However, bridges have been the target of the largest hacks in crypto history — always use reputable, audited bridges.

Example

Using the official Polygon Bridge, you can transfer ETH from Ethereum Mainnet to the Polygon network to take advantage of lower transaction fees.
