Node

Definition

A computer that maintains a copy of the blockchain and participates in the network by validating and relaying transactions. Nodes ensure the network remains decentralized and secure.

Why It Matters

Nodes are essential for blockchain decentralization. The more nodes a network has, the more resilient and censorship-resistant it becomes.

Example

Running a full Bitcoin node requires downloading the entire blockchain (about 500 GB) and continuously validating new transactions.
